How Can severe Sciatica Nerve Pain Be Treated?

About 10 months ago I had surgery on L5 and then two months later I had surgery again on L4 and L5. Strong sciatica nerve problems on right side (feels like an ice pick in hip and the right foot and big toe are very painful. Dr. allowed me to have for a couple of months tramadol to help with the pain, now several months later it is just ice packs and heating pads. After my first surgery, I had a light heart attack and had to have a stent put it. With the heart stent and the ever increasing pain I feel my health is declining. Months later the pain is very strong and sharp, my right hip and lower leg is so painful I get sick to my stomach, and it is getting worse. I can t seem to convince my Neurosurgen how bad the pain is, I can t believe a person is able to endure for very long under this much pain, really need help, what do I do?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As the amount of pain is much intense, there are only 2 possible options visible here (third option of physiotherapy is not possible)
1. Best analgesic support in terms of tramadol hydrochloride or opioids
2. Interventional pain management specialist concern with epidural analgesia through bupivacaine or other drugs
I would like to address further queries with recent MRI as per your desire and convenience.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
